When Guccio Gucci was young he was an Italian immigrant hotel worker in Paris and then later in London. Gucci's inspiration came from the luxurious luggage he saw guests bring with them at the hotels he worked at. Before leaving London he visited the luggage manufacturer H.J. Cave & Sons who is cited by some as being the first luxury leather handbag maker. Upon returning to his place of birth in Florence Italy, he established a luggage and handbag shop in 1920 that sold fine leather goods with classic styling. The rest is history as Gucci became one of the mist iconic high-quality fashion brands of the 20th century.

The signature treated canvas is free from any tears or separation. The leather trimming and handles have a wonderful deep chocolate patina. The brass zipper with signature era specific gucci lock are in full functioning order. as pictures some of the leather trimmings have developed some cracks and separation but this does not affect the functionality of the bag as the zippers and lock keep the bag closed and tight. there is some minor stains in the bag from moisture. The bag retains its original shape and stands upright when placed on display.
